About Mitchell
Mitchell Yoshida is a composer, pianist, and multi-instrumentalist whose musical versatility defies easy categorization. Equally at home composing for orchestra, producing electronic music, or exploring jazz, rock, and experimental sounds, he moves fluidly between genres, drawing on a lifetime of musical exploration. His work spans film, television, live performance, and sound design, with a particular love for storytelling and finding the unexpected in music.

Yoshida is a member of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and has collaborated with artists including MIKA, Bastille, Avicii, Woodkid, Ry X, and Detroit techno pioneer Omar S. His background as a performer and improviser continues to inform his composing, bringing spontaneity, curiosity, and a wide-ranging musical vocabulary to every project.

His independent work includes The Well-Tempered Spinet, a three-volume solo piano project exploring musical temperament, tuning, and the expressive possibilities of the instrument. The series reflects his ongoing fascination with the intersection of musical tradition, experimentation, and personal expression.

His latest feature film score, A Tree Fell in the Woods, premiered at the Tribeca Festival in 2025. He also composed the score for the award-winning documentary Brasslands, alongside work for television, short films, commercials, and contemporary art installations. His credits include projects for Comedy Central, Funny or Die, Peloton, Duracell, Nestlé, and PUMA.

Beyond composition, Yoshida has created sound design and sonic identities for Google, Amazon, and Ultimate Ears, as well as the anthem for the New York Giants.
